Maybe after the end of the year I could do it. Kinda strapped for cash 'till then, at least.trodden wrote:want to be business partners? by the way, you need a vacation, come teach larry and i how to use logic.wenzel.hellgren wrote:John's Manville sounds like the name of a gay bar
I'd love to, of course.

In response to this thread, went to find some Johnsmanville stuff through the SPI links posted on the other page, and contacted Paragon Pacific in Tukwila, Washington, just down the road from Seattle. They no longer sold the JM 814, but had a Certainteed product that is exactly like it and 703. it was 1.95 a square foot, so not sure if that is a great deal or anything. Borrowed the roommates car last friday and picked up 12 sheets of it.
My previous acoustic application were done with a Roxul rockwool product. That stuff was cheaper, and did the job. However, working with the certainteed product is much easier. Its more rigid, finished easier when cut, holds together better. I was able to prep cover and hang 6 panels over the weekend.

i just grabbed three packs (72 sq ft per pack, 9 2'x4' panels) for $1/sq ft (so it wsa $230 something with tax).
yep, it's 703. same stuff. no big hullabaloo, 703 isn't some magic secret!
now, it's time to do some framing.

this is a great thread. i was wondering about this product myself. i've used roxxull afb for baffles before, but if there's one thing it's not, it's rigid and neat. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A STICKY RE. PEOPLES COMPARISONS OF VARIOUS SOUND ABSORPTIVE MATERIALS!!
so green yr tasting the chlorophyll (fresh breath anyone?)

I'm very happy with the results and hope to finish off the other 6 pieces this weekend. they will be going in the live room for some more ceiling (my ceiling is only 7.5) and wall treatment.trodden wrote:In response to this thread, went to find some Johnsmanville stuff through the SPI links posted on the other page, and contacted Paragon Pacific in Tukwila, Washington, just down the road from Seattle.
