The Goose

Because it gooses the signal, and because you can then run your shit through a goose.

Ah, those were the days!

Yeah, so why not have your friend name it after something he really likes?

If not, you could go with Pre-dom, the American Way.

if it's transparent, why not the TP?

Tee-Pee?

Tai Pei?

Pro-Sonic Force 1

What about just naming it like, "P-1". "Avalon" is the company, not the preamp (M-5, U-5, VT-737 [which essentially is "Vacuum Tube 737"])
I'm all about a little kick and snare

I've had this idea for an fx pedal called the Magic Box. Who the hell wouldn't want to buy the Magic Box? If it's a really sweet pre, youcan have that one.

Or, how about assigning a 2-digit number to each of your initials: my initials are MC, so my box would be called the MC1303. Bonus.

Or just call it Wizard Glick.

Red Meat - For the balls in your face colored pre

Rosie's Hips - Boutique Name for his company email me for the logo...1940's wartime chick half laying down on yep you guessed it roses & rose hips

Black Angus - See Red Meat

The O.J. - The pre that was involved with the recording but no one wants to admit it

Cock & Ballz Mic Pre - The Ron Jeremy of pre's

If he wants more "family friendly consumer market names"...

The Spud

The Wedgy

Sultan

For markets in the "hippy realm"..

The Quiktrip
The Beaner
Roachclip
Kind Bud Preamps
The Oh shit I think that was laced with PCP Preamp

The Panty Thief

Panty Thievery is something that I can't get enough of, whether it's me thieving or I'm seeing it on the evening news, man I get a kick out of it.
