PHANTOM POWERED CARBON MIC NOW AVAILABLE

Post by Beingbing » Fri Nov 02, 2007 9:30 pm

Originally posted about my battery powered version and mentioned I would be building these soon. Some of you showed interest. 48v works wonderfully with the carbon element. Please let me know what you think. If you're interested check out the myspace page link in my signature below and search "carbon microphone" on ebay for my listings.

The "Acoustic Tom Cymbal" clip sounds even more evil than Jandek.

I want one.

Bandwith limitations aside, that sounds way more distorted than my telephone.

Those clips sound fun.
I would love to check one of those phantom powered mics out.

They look really cool, also.

the reciever endcaps are available in a variety of colors, if color really matters to anyone.

also, i'm including an extra carbon element with mics that are purchased with "buy it now" on ebay. each element tends to have a different sound because they are all different manufacturers and used to a varying degree.

i'll try to include one that has a far different sound from the one installed. they are very easy to change by unscrewing the reciever cap.

SOON TO BE REVIEWED IN TAPE OP

Post by Beingbing » Tue Dec 04, 2007 3:25 pm

Recently got word that phantom powered Bing Carbon Microphones will be recieving a review in one of the upcoming issues. Will most likely be offering them at an introductory price for the 2 months of the issue they are in.

Anyone have suggestions for pricing on a specialty mic? They are now $98.99 plus shipping which will probably be the introductory price. Will likely raise the price thereafter.

Thanks

Sold! To me that is - figured I'd buy myself a Channukah present.

This might actually help me out in mastering! - once in the blue moon I get requests to make stuff lo-fi (usually for the "cliche fake out intro") - this toy might make this more fun to do than just putting Izotope Vinyl on the track.

Looking forward to hearing how this thing sounds on my cello too!

Best regards,
Steve Berson

Thank you Steve.

You've gotta love the filtered out intro that everybody does. Definetly will be more unique for you than a software effect. You'll also get an extra element with a slightly different sonic quality so it will be somewhat as "tweakable". Really really want to hear cello through it! Better send me the tracks!

I'll get it out to you ASAP.

Danny

There are two new sample recordings on the myspace page. Moonage Daydream by Bowie and Yer So Bad by Petty, both performed by my bandmate Craig.

Bing Carbon Microphone on vocals, MCA SP-1 on accoustic guitar. recorded on four track, mastered in Audacity on PC.

Please let me know what you think
