2nd the proximity effect!! I'm sure you can get the loan of a 57, or even a 58 with the grill screwed off. If it's still too bright, stick a foam mic ball over it or a medium thick sock. If this gets you warm enough but sound muffled, boost your presence freq.'s in PT. Also, a physical trick is to cut your vx right when you wake up. I use a more destructive version of that....Iif I need more I stay up really really late drinking liquor (not beer) and then wake up and drink Throat Coat tea with honey and start as soon as possible. One more P.C. way is to grab a couple acoustics and some buddies and belt out a bunch of covers for 3 or 4 hours the night before. Don't blow your chords out, but slightly swollen chords add some depth and chest the next day. Check my MySpace www.myspace.com/tcatt and you'll hear what those tricks do for my voice. I think there are 4 songs up there, with several different microphones happning.
Thanx,

No it ain't. Just ask Billy Corgan. It's ok to sound thin and nasally, just ask Neil Young.
I just swallow some Monster Energy Drink and sing into my mullet.I just swallow a SM-58 and sing into my gullet.
