When I'm looking for a firm, punchy, unbloated, easily sculpt-able kick sound, it's been my first stop for the past few months. It also tends to pair well with a fairly close 'outside kick' LDC. Plus, it's more fun to add sweet low-end to a 421 when needed than it is to have to wrangle the subby, sloppy, bulbous, lows on many modern "Kick Drum Mics"

I haven't tried the 602 yet. I'll have to give it a shot. A kick drum mic that can make a kick sound somewhat like a kick drum? I'm there. In those regards, I'd prefer a friggin sm57 over a d112.
I was totally in a 421 on kick phase when I got my 602, and damn it's like a 421 only with subtleties perfected for kick drum. You'll love it.

Well If I pick up a 602 I would guess that it would be a 'II'.

I will write a review after I pick it up.

What kind of boxing glove is best? Should I make sure its an Everlast or will any old cheap thing do? Does the color of the glove make a difference? What angle to the floor? Away from the drum a little or more towards it? Can't wait to try this....

At midget chest height at a 27 degree angle referenced to the kick leg angle unless it is chrome, then you have to muffle the kick leg chrome with a very expensive piece of solid marble, or at least corian or possibly some sort of moving blanket.

If the 57 in the evrlast glove doesnt sound AMAZING right away, try using as many U47's as you can hysically stuff into a 24" kick. Stack them like wine bottles.

And you call yourself a professional. Everyone knows that exactly 23 U47s fit in a 24" bass drum.

I bought a 602 because so many of you raved about it - y'all were right. I can't thank you enough.

However, I am still a fan of the Beyer 88 as well.

I only have 17 U47's, so I never filled one all the way up... ;)
