Am I going crazy?

Post by FoundationSound » Mon Nov 19, 2007 6:54 pm

I'm looking for a 16x4 channel snake with 16 xlr and 4 female trs inputs on the box end, and then I want it to be all trs on the fan end. It seems like an item that people would want... so they could run the snake from a booth to the patchbay, and then into whatever chain they would want out to tape... but I can't seem to find one anywhere. Am I going to have to build this thing or custom order it?

You will prob have to change the connectors on the fan end. Usualy if its TRS on one end its TRS on the other. When I bought one from Ebay a while back the vendor threw in some free XLR to TRS adapters. I didnt use them for the snake but I had other uses for em.

I believe Redco does custom work. Also if there's a Rapco dealer in your area they will custom make one. Have the sales person contact their rep at Rapco with the details of what you want and they will give a custom quote.

Easy. Just get the one you like that has the 4 1/4' tips on the fan end then snip em and solder on the xlrs. As long as the 1/4' ends are TRS your golden.

If you dont care to solder, order one from gepco international. They can custom make you exactly what you want.

Have you considered buying 4 trs-to-xlr adapters?[/url]

HotWired cables (www.hotwired.com) can make most any custom snake you want. And they use all high quality materials. I've been very happy with them.
I think women should leave the toilet seat UP!!!

Well, what I was saying is they all come with like 16 xlr's on the fan end, and I want them trs. I realize that I could cut them off or buy adapters... but they're not cheap... they're like $4 ea. And I can't use adapters, because they're too big to fit 16 of them side by side in the patchbay.

So I guess I'll just have one custom made.

Thanks for the advise, I'll check out these guys that do custom work. Redco has been good to me in the past.

Pretty much all the cable manufacturers will do custom work.
Mogami 800-800-6608 California
Radial 604-942-1001 Vancouver BC Canada (near there anyway I think)
Whirlwind 800-733-9473 New York
Rapco 800-467-2726 Missouri

I don't recommend Monster
