Packing blankets. Loads of them. Old carpets and rugs. Throw em all around the place.

I love it that this whole thread is composed of (apparently) dead-serious ideas (some of which sound pretty cool) and complete smartassery, completely and wantonly mixed. Exactly what I love about the TOMB.

You guys are brutal.... Seriously bro..If you're in over your head ain't much gonna change by Thursday no matter how much you read. Let the band know you're a little out of your comfort zone and everyone figure it out as you go. Keep it simple and you'll be ok....But if the band kicks your ass at least make sure it ends up on Youtube so we can watch it....Good luck...Have fun.
Of course I've had it in the ear before.....

Perhaps you could suggest to the band that they hire someone to engineer the session who isn't overwhelmed at the prospect of engineering a session.

Barring that, read all recording related messageboards and form some opinions on how you want to tackle the task, though you will never have heard any of the suggestions in practice.

If you are still uncomfortable, go to gearslutz and they will recommend a very expensive piece of equipment that will make everything sound better.
Good luck and godspeed.

if you're going for a chili peppers sound, just make sure you master it hot.

No, I don't think you understand. I said hot...hotter...hotter still...

you just don't get it.

Your urgency reminds me why I don't record fellow Italians.

It's from that idiotic Alanis tune, "Ironic", in which she enumerates dozens of things and incorrectly deems them ironic.
