Fuck man, every guitarist in the world could stand to watch that as an example of how to play in-time with restraint. It's dead-solid pocket and if I recall correctly, a little slower than the record.

Roll of the high end, and voila, instant 15" hi hat wash ala Bonham's intro on "How many more times". you can thank me later...
sh*t, now I'm wondering if was just a clanky sounding cymbal wash. Don't have the tune handy. damn, damn damn. Standing by for correction onslaught...

awesome, thanks for posting the link. that band is an example of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. i've only watched live footage of them via "Stop Making Sense" which is great in its own right. But it's nice to seem them without the bombastic embellished line-up.

Because I never know when to stop, you can hear the Foghat version
here.
Now you may forever question my taste and judgement!
Much cooler is the Mule,
here (besides the taper singing along in the first few seconds...).

What? Man, I love the Heads version of that song. Even so, it doesn't come close to Reverend Al singing it.
I love Sharpton's version too. It's fantabulously agredious with a touch of justicularly urban and determined ramification.

Os Mutantes used a bug spray can's "pfffft" on 'Le Premier Bonheur du Jour'. I think this might be what you mean by old Brazilian stuff.

I don't know about that. I think David Byrne has gone on to do some great stuff and I think Tom Tom Club was awesome as well. They were all brilliant musicians. I think Chris Franz is an incredibly under-rated drummer.

Stop Making Sense is really cool, especially if you've never seen any live Talking Heads, but you're right in that there's a lot of embellishment, especially compared to the early stuff. There's also a lot of coke, but they always had great players with them-- Bernie Worell, Adrian Belew, etc. (That percussionist on
Stop Making Sense is pretty happening as well.) That Saturday Night Live appearance was really something, though.

Steve Scales. That guy is great! His playing and his showmanship both kill!

I remembered it from the days I drove a Pinto with an 8-track, and also listened to a lot of UFO, Zep and Molly Hachet.
