I dropped a fet47 once. That was not a good feeling as an intern. Luckily it was fine and lived to fight another day.

This exact same thing happened to me. I managed to save the capsule but the body fell to the floor.
It's scary to be the guy holding a $10k microphone that, out of nowhere and for no apparent reason, blew up in your hand.
It is, and it was even scarier when it also happened to the second 251 I put up to replace the first (at least I kept it from hitting the floor that time).
Oh, man. That makes me even queasier. No one should have to live thru that twice.

Well, add a Lomo 19a13 to my list.

Son of a bitch.

I haven't had the heart to plug it in and see what happened yet. I guess technically, I didn't drop it, but I was responsible for it taking a fall from about two and half feet.

most expensive mic i ever dropped was a Rode NT1000. It was on the stand, and something/someone bumped into the stand, and down it went. Not exactly hi-end, but at the time, that $300 mic was my pride and joy. I THOUGHT it was ok for a while, but the sound started cutting out. Fortunately, Rode's cust support is awesome. Very few questions, they just told me where to send it, and I got it back a week later fixed.
