Question for Joel RE: Flickinger Mic Pres
Joel, you mentioned in a thread last week that you have some Flickinger mic pres. Would you tell us where you sourced these? Westrek?

Contact Pete Bankert at Rock City Studios in Ann Arbor, MI. Pete's got a Flickinger console there that sounds killer. Early 70's era. If he got his tape machine fully functional, it would be the analog house of doom in the Detroit area.

I believe Flickinger is a Michigan guy too.

You might want to contact Bill Skibbe at Keyclub recording http://keyclubrecording.com.
He was interviewed for Tape Op a couple of years ago about the Flickinger pre-amp clones he was building. He told me that his pre-amps sounded exactly like the pre-amps in his Flickinger console (which was built for Sly Stone). He described them as sounding a bit like APIs with bigger low-end.

Re: Question for Joel RE: Flickinger Mic Pres
You should really talk to Mike Miller at westend studio in KC,KS. he is an amazing guy, and that is where I used the flickingers. I dont have any , I just was a partner at that studio for a couple of years.channelcat wrote:Joel, you mentioned in a thread last week that you have some Flickinger mic pres. Great pre's. He also made a rack of 8 flick EQ's that are pretty great. 3 band , sweepable, discrete thingies.

Mile Miller is a great guy. On the rare occasion there's something wrong with my MCI he's the guy I call.
