I like that a lot of Aphex Twin's albums state that he is in no way affliated with the same Aphex that made the aural exciter. Crazy that they had so much of a hold on the name even into the late 90's...
As for bands that list the gear they use, off the top of my head I can think of:
Shellac
LCD Soundsystem
The Fucking Champs
but i'm sure there's plenty more.
The Pretender, and the Exciter...

i have an aphex aural exciter c2 104 i used to use it all the time on hip-hop, i'd throw all the beats through it to beef them up. then discovered L2. but i still use it on occasion. i got it for $50 with a Hill 16 ch rack multimix, alesis sr16 drum machine, Roland s330 with a monitor, and 600 sample disks, and a 28U road rack with wheels. sold just about everything except the rack which collects dust, and the AE. funny thing about that stuff was most of the samples etc were from the show Hollywood Squares in the 80s. i got it from the guy who produced all the music for that show and some other game shows at that time. it was a great buy for me though i was like 17 and doing sound every weekend, trying to figure out what gear was, aside from the stuff i used on the weekends. (the band had their own sound system)
