Hey there,
I have a alesis 3630 and I think it really blows just the way it is. I am looking for the crunchy version of the 3630 mod for it. I found partial threads on prodigy-pro and gearslutz but nothing concrete. I really want to mod this unit if its worth it! I am curious to know if the sound of this machine will really be worth my time to do it. Any insight would be appreciated!
Thanks
3630 crunchy mod!

I have modded one before - the difference was large, but in the end, it was still kind of a boring sound to me. Good practice reworking a PCB though.

This is pretty straight-ahead and makes a big difference, putting it in the league of a RNC. Very clean... could be construed as "boring" but also very useable.

im about to mod a 3630 and have been doing some reading.
regarding the "crunchy" version...IIRC, this has to do with adjusting the trim (symmetry network) of the VCA's. if you are gonna replace the vca's and try to do this, you will need THAT 2181 and not 2180 (these are pre trimmed for lowest THD).
