FOH board for studio use

Post by rripror » Thu Jan 17, 2008 3:15 pm

How many of you out there use a FOH board for your recording studio. I track and overdub OTB and mix exclusively ITB. I've got a new board on the way ( Soundcraft GB4-24 ) and was wondering if anyone else works similarly. :?: :?:

I own an A&H GL-2200 that works well for either FOH or for recording. Better mic preamps, better EQ, better routing than most budget boards.

Hey Real, Are you doing alot of patching and re-patching when you record and overdub? :?:

Not when you have the 32 channel GL-2200. It also helps that each channel has direct outputs (I reconfigured them pre-fader) and has a switch to toggle between mic and line inputs.

I have an old Soundcraft S1 that I've tricked out for tracking (I added post fader transformer ballanced outs to every channel). I love it. I'm recording to Pro Tools 90% of the time so the cue mix and headphone feed gets done ITB.

i keep thinking this topic is "FDR board for studio use".

that'd be some old discrete tube gear. :)

i have a soundtracs MR - which a lot of people use as live boards. it does have tape returns, but they are retarded and i use it like a split/live board for my uses.

whatever works.
