"that" Lewisohn Beatles book
"that" Lewisohn Beatles book
i know this has been supplanted by the newer and far more exhaustive non-Lewisohn book that came out a year or two ago, but i just had to crow that i recently scored it for $10 in very good condition.
i'm finding it pretty entertaining and informative, too.

Re: "that" Lewisohn Beatles book
Congrats! The newer book does not replace the Lewisohn, it simply provides more information. Lewisohn is still a fantastic resource (even if the new book's authors claim it has errors).RefD wrote:i know this has been supplanted by the newer and far more exhaustive non-Lewisohn book that came out a year or two ago, but i just had to crow that i recently scored it for $10 in very good condition.

Plus you can read the Lewisohn on the crapper without giving yourself a hernia.

The Lewisohn book is worth having simply for the exhaustive notating of the individual takes, reduction mixes, etc.
I consider the Lewisohn book and 'Recording the Beatles' to be companion pieces.

i'm revisiting it now, actually.
it's just intresting to note how the group like sgt peppers, but really just thought of it as another album. same with revolver.
