Back From The Hospital

Post by Dave-H » Tue Jan 29, 2008 8:04 am

Just got back from the Indianapolis VA hospital where I had a L5 spinal fusion surgrey last Thurs. Tony can vouch for the back pain I was having. NO FUN, believe me. Glad to be home for sure & back on my puter. It should take around a month to get back up to speed but I have to take it pretty slow. Lot's of screws, pins, plates & junk in my back now.
This all comes in the middle of moving of course but I have lot's of good help for the move!
Hope to see & meet lot's of you in New Orleans this spring.

I hope you have a speedy recovery. I've got 3 discs with varying degrees of herniation between L2 and L5, and have been doing a lot of physical therapy to try to avoid surgery.

Feel better and don't get too friendly with the painkillers!

Hey Dave,

Just an FYI, My day profession is as an RN and I happen to work on an ortho/spine floor here in Colorado with one of the best docs in the country doing spinal fusions etc... if you every need any quick/free advice lease feel free to PM me I'd be happy to help.
* Remeber, log roll, wear your brace, walk, wean yourself from the walker if you are using one, and just keep going, you'll be back up to speed in no time, also remember not to sit for longer than 20 min without moving around(very important if your recording/mixing at a desk!)* Good Luck! Tom.

Thanks for all the good thoughts & advice. Hard fo me to sit for more than about 5 minutes at a time at the moment. I have bad siacita on the left side & am really only comfortable lying down flat or standing so I am up & down a lot. Can't wait to get moved & get to work building a studio. Probably April before I am totally released So I can get back to playing drums & working on a new home studio so I have LOT'S of time for planning & design.
Thanks for careing!

just busted out my cane for the third time in 6 mos (L4 issues). 18 years of chiro, 4 of acupuncture and Im getting real tired of the pain. For the first time I'm considering the surgery options.

Feel better and kudos for having it done....

Yikes man. Good luck and best wishes.

Kind of makes some of the shit I've been stressing about today seem rediculously trivial.

It's good to step back and quit worrying about whether or not to try to build a dual pultec or two monos. God.

All the best Dave. I hope you're able to make a quick and full recovery, and make the best of any time you might have off.
