Blue mics, cheap.

Post by calaverasgrandes » Tue Jan 29, 2008 8:11 pm

Well not the fancy bottles or dragonflys or anything.
But AMS is blowing out the kickballs and the http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i-BLU-BALL.html (hehe....blue balls).
For $50 each. That doesnt suck.

I bought the Kick Ball. It was never on my list but I for $50 why not. If it works OK and frees up a 421 that I'd normally use on kick it's worth it.

I went and pulled the trigger on a kick ball. I've been short a kick/bass dynamic since my TGX50 died a mysterious death. I'm just hoping that the output isnt too high on these!
If its any good I'll get a 2nd one next week.
Double bass still exists.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered a Blue Ball and Kick Ball. I just can't pass up cool looking $50 microphones.

Full Compass is doing the OmniMouse at half price - $600. Dragonflies are discounted too but not as heavily (also 600.) BB shockmounts, which fit many mics, are $39.

Is the regular mouse as cheap?
What am I talking about. I got like 30 mics and only 3 different kinds of pres and 2 comps. I need to stop buying mics so much!
But I have been interested in the mouse for a while. As well as the Dragonfly.
Looks like they got the blue ball for $45, though I am not sure if the price wouldnt be the same as AMS with shipping. Oh wait, it says free shipping!
Whats up, they also dont seem to have any other blue stuff that they arent blowing out. Is Blue going out of biz? Or changing distros?

The others are already gone. Change of distro is what I hear. I just saw this today, I think an Omnimouse is in my future...

Anyone using the Ball Dynamic on guitars? Just wondering if I should pick up a pair for micing a stereo rig. I'm so over 57s for electric guitar.

i tracked some guitars with one last year (Telecaster into Ross Phaser into Valve Junior head into an open-backed 1x12" cab).

seemed to work best right up on the speaker.

it sounded okay, if a bit dark for my tastes...but i still liked the result.

Rats, why doesn't stuff like this ever get sold in the UK?
AMS don't ship internationally ;-(

Anybody wanna buy a blue ball and a kickball for me and ship em to the UK for a modest fee ;-p

Be interested to know what you guys make of these two mics, anyways.

Cheers,

Paul

If I had the money/time (they'll be sold out by the time I get back from this trip) I'd offer.

DAMN! I just noticed that its free shipping on orders over $49.95. So if I had bought one guitar pick I would have saved 5 bux! Oh well. Spilt milk.

ps. It says they do have international shipping?

Where does it say that. Al I could find was "AMS is only able to ship internationally to Canada and US Territories."

When you enter your address, the only choices in the pull down other than US states in Canada and Samoa or something like that.

It's a shame cos the cheapest I've seen them in England are around ?70 ($140).
