I'd like to see a current pic. I think that was from near when he first signed onto Gearslutz. I think he's since bought every piece of gear that gets talked up there... he's Shakira's producer, if I remember right, has a bunch of Latin grammys, and is the world's 14th strongest economic presence. There were pics of his live room too. It matched the racks. Massive. I guess it's good to see that at least somewhere in the world bigger studios aren't struggling.

If you playback on a Walkman, you get that fat analog tape sound.

Best looking studio rack of gear: Image

i have to disagree with you on the 4 track thing...the 144 and the 244 are the best looking ones by far!

there's like 3 or 4 things i'dd really like to have in that rack...but the whole thing just make me nautious...really excessive..i bet the guy records "great" music to own a wall like that

I'm a big fan of old tube testers, personally. I ought to dig out a few from the collection and take photos. 8)

Luckily I've got one here at home this weekend. This is my trusty Heathkit TC-2 Tube Checker - the first one I ever bought (garage sale, $5), and still the most reliable one I own. The rest are more pretty and more advanced, but I haven't gotten around to properly fixing any of them.

I don't think I've heard more than one of her songs, but who am I to judge the value of her stuff anyways. *That* picture doesn't have much stuff that interests me but I think it's cool that somewhere there's still apparently a strong demand for a big room sort of facility what with all the sad stories you hear about places closing down and being replaced with ITB mix rooms.

Ooooh, I love the "BAD - ? - GOOD". I bet all the mastering places have VU's like that these days.

i guess i'm not judging value as much as i'm judging taste.

but yeah, 90% of that rack/wall would do jack for the stuff i do.

Who makes the prettiest out board gear?

What makes your rack look stellar?

I'd probably stack these in a sexy sandwich and spraypaint them gold. maybe the ugliest things i've ever seen.

The green Altec stuff looks great. All the old broadcast limiters... many old tube mic power supplies look amazing. I think the UA 2-610 is pretty visually great in a similar way to some of the Shadow Hills stuff - except the big compressor. That thing is straight outta the old War of the Worlds radio broadcast. On it's own planetary ring of cool, aesthetically.
