Of course, but this is true of most mics and not a results of the cube shape.Scodiddly wrote:Wire mesh will indeed cause some reflections - I found this out the hard way when I built a large-bodied cylinder mic. With identical guts and capsule it sounded bad compared to a smaller-diameter mic.

uhhh, there are a lot of squarish mics out there.. that are really good. hater.themagicmanmdt wrote:ok, so, guys and gals here. probably mostly guys.
we've been chatting it up for a while now.
we all have a good, if not loose understanding of the idea of shapes and how sound bounces inside of them. think room construction, parallel walls, etc.
now, think of mic design.
i came across this, as i was vainly searching the pits of audio shopping: the 'clearance' section of musicians friend *shudder*.

ok. the mic is a square.
technically, what the name is: a cube, people.
now, i like MXL mics. i think i may champion the 603s and the 2001/2003 on here like some do AT's and like some do to chinese ribbons.
but this is the pits.
the person who designed this deserves a nice fresh cut lemon squirted in their eye.
yes.
rofl.
i said it.
