I'm shocked and appalled?

I just did this on Saturday. New "Boy Band" on "big" label. We've been working all night, its now 9am and the "hook" still isn't as sweet as the demo singers. Having both Pro Tools sessions at my finger tips, the producer asks me to import demo singers vocals, and align the new vocals to the old ones. I then mix in demo singers under new singers and viola! I'm having breakfast w/ my wife by 11am, then off to bed.
Re: Britney Spears
I heard that was the inspiration behind the new Antares plug-in, Diva.

But: you can't fake the devil-may-care strut of her MTV "comeback" performance (song: "Gimme More") nor can you fake the crotch shots nor the head-shaving nor the umbrella attack of a Ford Explorer nor the getting-hauled-out-of-her-mansion-on-a-stretcher
etc etc
I think she's an artist through and through, seriously. Some faked studio vocals don't bother me. She's taken her entire weird self and made her life into a spectacular public event. It's like the most colossal performance art piece ever. I am not being sarcastic here.
If we are fascinated by Wesley Willis and Skip Spence and Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain and Daniel Johnston and all the other mentally compromised artists in the canon then we also ought to be fascinated by Britney and her unique blend of life/persona/art. All I'm sayin.

That's an interesting perspective.
Madonna did the same thing, to a lesser extent, with things like the "Sex" book; marketing a persona.
The difference, or I guess one of the points to consider, is whether Britney (or Johnston or Cobain) is living and behaving this way as an artistic statement or not (with Jandek it's pretty obvious, with Britney though?).

The demo singers were real singers and the other guys couldn't sing so you just release the demo singers with the other guys faces?
There's a video about it here.palinilap wrote:I heard that was the inspiration behind the new Antares plug-in, Diva.
