DBX 160xt Threshold Potentiometer

Post by qbert1 » Tue Mar 25, 2008 12:09 pm

Hello,

I have a 160xt with a broken theshold pot. I took it out and found it's an Alps 20kb also marked 225r. And I need some guidance.

1. Is this what would be called an "audio", "linear" or some other kind of pot?
2. What does the "b" in 20Kb stand for?
3. Any idea what the 225r refers to?
4. Anyone like to point me in the direction of a suitable replacement.

Any and all help is appreciated.

The current labeling standard is:
A = Log (or Audio taper)
B = Linear
C (or sometimes no code) = Reverse Log

A nice pot walkthrough:

These used a long shaft Alps 20 k linear pot. Very hard to find these, replace it with a RV6 style 20 k linear pot mounted to the front panel. Wire it with 3 wires. Use a 1/8" shaft diameter knob.
