Studio Projects B1 - overheads - recorderman/Glyn Johns

Post by Grahambo! » Sun Mar 30, 2008 6:06 pm

Howdy,

I'm cheap/a college student, and I want to sort of upgrade a bit when recording my drummer's kit. Right now I used two crappy $35 vocal dynamics as OH.

I was thinking of miking just the snare, kick, and two overheads.

Would the Studio Projects B1 perform well on this? Or the Audio Technica AT2020

I want sort of a robust sound. Our musical style is very '70s experimental stuff (Can, Neu!, early Kraftwerk).

Any help?

i've had some luck using a at2020 as a single OH mic, i'd probably go with those.

krautrock sound is very dry, lots of close mic, not much room, btw - there's some other threads on here talking about how to pull that sound.
