using myspace to hopefuly get work

Post by dungeonsound615 » Tue Apr 08, 2008 7:50 am

I'm honestly not a big fan of myspace however ive been told that its a great way to get your name out there in the studio/music world.

what is your opinion, do you feel myspace is good or is having a regular website better, or even having both.

thanks

I've had my website for almost five years now and I've gotten lots of work from it. I've had a myspace page for at least a year and a half and have gotten exactly zero work from it.

I think it depends on if the artists you generally record use myspace alot. I get almost all my work off myspace. I do record younger bands who do almost all their band booking and other business with myspace.

I have a MS page and I've recorded a few bands specifically so they could have music on their MS page but I've never gotten any business from MS. It's something you can refer people to for examples or FAQ stuff but I kind of believe in getting business the old fashion way.
Of course I've had it in the ear before.....
