looking into getting a 003 setup have questions
Ive been considering getting a 003 setup but have concerns or questions.
here is what im considering
Digi003R FireWire Pro Tools Interf >
2 DigiMaxD8 8-Ch Pre 48kHz Dig Out making a total of 16 channels
so my questions
What are the capabilities of this setup and whats the maximum number of tracks i can record at one time.
Also how hard is it to integrate my sytek pre and presonus mp20 into this picture. With the two digimaxxD8's and these pres does that mean im able to now record say 22 tracks because thats how many pres i have. i guess i dont get how many tracks this setup is capable of recording at one time.
Also i know that i can mix in the box which is what i plan to do for awhile. however down the line say i want to buy a nice console for the pres and sound ETC. am i gonna be able to integrate this into the picture or am i screwed and have to start all over.
I want this to be the best setup for what i can afford, and dont want to dive in and then find something tha tlimits me from what i want to do.
oh that reminds me I plan to use this for recording my own album along with other bands, and for sound design and possible scoring of small films and game trailers.
thanks
Mike

Re: looking into getting a 003 setup have questions
If you get a typical analog board with just 1/4" sends and returns you'll only have 8 channels to connect to on the 003. A multiple Delta1010/M-Powered system is better for that sort of thing.dungeonsound615 wrote:Also i know that i can mix in the box which is what i plan to do for awhile. however down the line say i want to buy a nice console for the pres and sound ETC. am i gonna be able to integrate this into the picture or am i screwed and have to start all over.

Maybe he thought you would use the direct outs on a digmax to feed the 003? Since the 003 only has 4 pre amps you could use 4 from a digimax. So.... 1 Digmax feeds the ADAT and the other you use four channels to feed the 003. 16 pre amps total, with 4 to spare.
edit: I just reread and saw that you have a sytek pre. you do not need two Digimax D8 if you are going to use a 003. But you could get a Digmax DS and then have 16 out as well as ins.
