some session pictures from clapton's 'slowhand' recording

Post by themagicmanmdt » Tue Apr 29, 2008 11:11 am

jeez. I mean, I didn't know my old man had session pictures until he dug up the vaults and put them on an update on his website!

it's only two pictures, but it's still cool nevertheless.

At the bottom - the Olympic Studios pics.

Are those U87's?

George Terry is your dad? Cool... I really like his playing on the Clapton Blues live disc. At least, I think that's George Terry on that disc.

Fun pics... thanks for sharing.

Hard to tell in the "Cocaine" pic but it looks more like a U67 on Carl's rig.

Damn man, your old man is pretty happening!

I thought the bass mic looked like a 47. The guitars could be 87 or 67.

I had the opposite impression. I thought the bass mic looked like an 87 or 67 and the guitars looked more like 47's.

You could be right. Old faded photos that aren'tvery close. Still cool though.

I need to email him and see if he's got some hi-res pics. or any more!

yep. Marshall Terry. George Terry.

or, as some say, 'slowhand's fasthand'.

hahahaha

I'm just pissed because he's got a killer MCI JH16 and all this gear, but he switched to a DAW because it's so much less of a hassle!

and he won't sell it to me, either :(

but I'll have it someday! muahahahahaha! ;)

Nice!

I say you just tell him you're taking the JH. I do that to my folks sometimes. Sometimes it even works.

You're 100% right - they are. Cool! So those amps get you the Cocaine/Lay Down Sally tone, huh?

yep - they were music man amps.

'layla' was made with fender champs, though, and so was 461 ocean blvd for the most part.

Thanks for the post. I don't think you can tell if they are U87s or U67s on the bass and Musicman rigs. I would guess U87s. They are next to identical except for the battery window on the U87. Don't see any power supplys in the rooms.

Would love to see higher res pics and more of them. Great songs and tones on that record.

And not one of these pictures show me the vibe of how a song like 'the Core' came to be.

What I've come to realize since this album was released is that JJ Cale had alot to do with the 'feel' of this record.

The last Clapton/Cale record was very good.

The best artists come to life in company- don't you think?
