Is it true that omnis dont have phase problems?

So it wasnt phase with another mic its immune to just with itself and distant room sounds? I don't use pzms much so I was a bit hazy about how they worked. And Omni's dont have a proximity effect if its a single capsule omni, if its omni by using two capsules (like many LDC) then it will still present some proximity effect.

I highly suggest you buy a book on microphones.

I have this one, it is very very good:

The Microphone Book, Second Edition: From mono to stereo to surround - a guide to microphone design and application.

It's by John Eargle (who, sadly passed away just last year) was a great engineer. He wrote a few books on microphones and micing techniques. Highly regarded author.


This book will answer your questions, and also dispel some of the myths you are stuck with.

Thanks but I have tons of books on mics and recording, apperntly I need to re-read some of them, what myths am I stuck in besides pzm phase? (which is not a mic I use often at all?)
