Should I move my AKG BX20 from my basement to my lil studio?
My dad brought this huge brown box home years ago when I was still making demos on my 4 track portastudio. He told me its previous home was located where a buncha Mercury recordings were made. It's still sitting in my basement. Never used it. I have a fairly small recording studio so I'm reluctant to dig out this monolith. Anyone familar with the BX20 think I can get some cool sounds I wouldn't be able to get with an ace reverb plug? I'm sure it has its own unique characteristics and would be cool to have at my studio, I just need someone to convince me as space is a premium.

Seriously.
Why don't you just run some cables down to the basement?
it will take longer to run down and tweak stuff but, ya know, sometimes you just gotta get out of the control room.

Alas, my studio is in a different location...i do miss the damp walls and working with that old 4-track in my basement though. Maybe I'll bring the BX20 to my studio just to recreate that sacred space! Only this time I'll actually hook it up!thecheat wrote:Why don't you just run some cables down to the basement?

Seriously, thanks for the replies. I think I'm gonna haul this behemoth down to the studio and mess around with it.

i THINK you would be ok. but don't quote me on that the biggest spring reverb i've got is in the back of my Twin Reverb but thats never been affected by being positioned a different way.
