how can you buy a piece of gear by listening to clips off a website?

i just checked out those clips, I didn't find the clips to be flattering either, but that would not make me not want it at all. I'd have to read user reviews and hopefully try to test one out myself.

i was underwhelmed as well. granted, the clips shouldn't be your only basis for purchase, but they ought to at least get me interested... and they didn't.

maybe they could have added what settings were used on the 'with' clips... so you could download the WAV's and run them head to head against your favorite EQ's for comparison?

I think you'd be able to get a much better Idea if they figured out what settings they were going to want, then while the track was playing you heard the eq sweep to the settings they came up with, instead of just having eq or no eq

I think it's useless. absolutely useless.

there are so many things that an eq could or could not be good for. :/

neve preamps often lose shootouts but 8088s somehow win in context.

i can't find it on the site anywhere, and the Internet Archive doesn't have their site around the time I made my purchase (Sep 07) when i remember it being there. i'm glad it's down. macho is one thing... that's another entirely.
