I usually just go direct.

Wait, are these alien spaceships or government spaceships?

if i'm not mistaken you need to buy the m-audio SPUTNIK. that should answer all your problems.

probly alien government.

Pink Floyd used a gaggle of MD409s on Live At Pompeii.

myself, i often use either a hi-Z Webcor mic or a modded 219 four feet back with no low cut.

Really you have to try different things and see what sounds the best.
Move the space ship around the room to see where in the room you get the best sound.
I don't have any of the mics you listed and I've never recorded a spaceship before, but I thought I could give you some advice anyway.

note of caution: static discharge from some "inverspace" drives can damage ribbons and condensers.

pfft, you can't teleport off-world, the heat penalty would crisp you to ashes upon arrival.

What type of spaceship? Is it taking off? Landing? Is it already in orbit, or a drydock near Mars? Does it have solid-fuel boosters, or a warp drive? Or are we trying to record a Bussard ramjet--in which case you want to use the RE20 and compress to tape.

also, keep this in mind: any ship over 400 meters long cannot land on a world with Earth-normal gravitation.

the Nostromo was really pushing it.
