Vote and help me choose which VSTi to make next!

Post by armanbohn » Mon Aug 04, 2008 8:59 am

I'm running a poll over on my blog to determine which VST instrument I should finish next.

The choices are:

Guitar Feedback
Ray Gun
Hydrogen Spectra
Wine Glass
Plucked Cello

The poll is open for a week and the VSTi will be released by the end of the month (for free)!

Here's the link.

first off, you're pretty much my favorite person for working on stuff like this and then giving it away. i'm saving the toy piano VSTi for just the right song, but i can't wait to use it.

i voted for "wine glass" just because i think it would be a great sound to be able to use, and an absolute utter pain in the ass to set up any other way.

do you plan on actually filling the glass to various levels to produce the tones, as opposed to pitch shifting?

please keep up the good work!

I'm going to try and create a few octaves of real tones from a glass. Think glass harmonica ...

It will have to be a pretty big glass, like a goblet!

I'll need to bust out the old Korg tuner and an eye dropper.

Do I use wine? Will the density of the liquid effect the tone?

Hmmm...

Wine glass seems to be winning right now, but Hydrogen Spectra keeps creepin' up.

Thanks Smitty!

i'd pour the wine into one giant glass and then drink out of that while i filled the wine glasses with water. so much for precise measurements!

If "Wine Glass" wins, I have to call it the "Armanica"!

I think what you really need is the Cat piano vsti! I would use it!

it's not often that a song needs a Cat Piano... but when it does, it REALLY needs it.

I don't know what kind of amateur music your recording but ALL songs need cat piano. Your music must not have bar codes.

Remember all those christmas albums in the 90's using bad cat and dog samples?

I'm glad that's over ... but I guess I cold help bring it back!

My friend just got a new kitten.

This is great! you could sample periodically and get one instrument that will play in tune, all throughout the cats life. This would be a real concert instrument not some Christmas novelty!

I vote for wine glass. To see some wine glasses in action, check this out:

The cat piano is cool too, maybe a whole series of animal vstis?

i vote for having a feature whereby you can have random cat yowls appear where you were expecting another sound.

That would be great if you just put it there and didnt tell anyone so randomly like once every in a while it makes strange cat noises.

In retrospect, you would have to use a vintage cat, since vintage cats have a "warmer" sound.

in my experience, they do it themselves...
