The ATM450 is a great mic. I own three. I used two as overheads and one for the snare on the latest organissimo CD "Groovadelphia". I am a big fan of Audio-Technica mics and I haven't even tried the "big boys" yet, like the AT4050.

I just bought a pair of Pro37 mics from a fellow Tape-Op'er. I'm curious to try those as well.

Going from the MXL 603s (stock) to the ATM450 was an eye-opening (and ear-soothing) experience.

The Audio Technica 3000 series mics are on sale right now EVERYWHERE because they've discontinued the product line. Good value mics- CHEAP now until they are gone.

With this in mind, the 3031's (cardioid) and 3032's (omni) are really sweet mics. I have the 31's, use them on acoustic stringed instruments and occasionally piano. Since I've been using LDC's for overheads, haven't tried them for OH yet, but I'm guessing they'd be good if you prefer SDC's.
