Drop by the new Tape Log blog and check out my list (and comments) of gear that I actually appreciate using. Thanks! http://tapeop.com/tapelog

Shouldn't this be called Larry's list of gear about to massively jump in resale/ebay value? Glad I already own the Comptortion. Haven't tried it on di bass yet though.

I really appreciate these lists. Thanks, Larry.
Which version of iZotope RX are you using? I'm curious as to how much the advanced version has to offer. Aside from the extra tools (SRC and such), how much benefit does one get from additional parameters on the denoiser and spectral repair? I've demoed it a bit, and I find the differences to be pretty small (I tend to have troubles with denoisers, anyway, because so much of my music is quiet and white-noisy). However, the processing for these advanced features takes time, so I'm curious to hear from someone who has used it more often on more sources.
I will say that the suite is worth the regular price for spectral repair, alone. Is the advanced version worth 4x the price?

I'm using Izotope RX 1.06.439. I'm not sure which version this is, they hooked me up with it to check out. I'd gladly pay for it, and the version on my laptop looks to be a demo now, so I may have to! It also runs as a PT plug-in now. Nice. This and Auto-Tune and I'm pretty much done with plug-ins.

Ah, okay. I didn't exactly mean version, but whether or not you were using the base product or advanced product. Do you get a "more" button in the advanced tab for the denoiser (both the denoiser and spectral repair have multi-resolution options in the advanced version)? And do you have SRC and dither tools? Those are part of the advanced version, only.
The demo version can switch between regular and advanced in the preferences.

Hey larry,
How did you decide on the new Neve console? Just curious since there are so many of these modular consoles creeping onto the scene today. Congratulations!

Speaking of the neve... first up, congrats on getting the Neve and not raising the day rates.
Did you mean 5088 Series? Or is this "un-obtanium"?

My question:We're also installing a new Rupert Neve Designs 5800 console in November this year. 32 main faders, VU meters and all. We're pretty excited about this. And the day rate stays the same.

Uh, typo alert. RND 5088. 32 ch. I picked it since I want no mic pres on the console! And the specs are pretty crazy. High voltage rails...
