I'd like some ideas for converting a garage.

Thanks.

Yeah. Sun, Barry Gordy's Snake Pit, Jim Stewart's studio before Stax moved to the bigger space. There's also Soil of the South and Fort Horton (two of my favorites).

I am interested in what you all are doing. Specifically with regard to how the garage door is handled.

glenn fricker has a sweet looking garage studio up in canada, there's a bunch of pictures on his website, the last two are of the outside, garage door and all. he'd be a good guy to talk to about that.

I have a modest garage studio. It's in a 1 1/2 car laneway garage (that means it's behind the house n a separate building). It's pretty small but I've done full band recordings there. These days I mostly use if for overdubs and mixing.

That is awesome. I have built 4 or 5 garage studios in my time. I wish I had pics of them all, I do have pics of one of them, circa 1978. I'll dig it up and post it.
I'm converting my garage to one now, it's huge, and I'm all alone in the work of it. I'll take pics to document.

This one started out as a 3 car garage. I got to do the carpentry, and Wes Lachot did the design.

THAT is an inspirationally rockin Joint!
Mine is a 3 car with a huge shop behind it. I'm converting the three car area to a drum room, 3 isobooth, area and the shop to a LARGE control room, if it all works out that way in the end. What to do with all my woodworking tools then?

Sounds like a good idea for a short little tapeop feature?

Hey, if Tapeop does a feature, maybe we could have a bunch of peeps/Tapeoppers come in and help! I might be able to get the local "Music Foundation" to do some kind of class on it or somehow "pitch in".
Could be a sweet deal for those interested in building one "garage style".
we could see how fast we could get it done.

I'm wiling to relinquish the wheel on this one.
