I now have ULTIMATE respect for you, sir!RefD wrote:Smitty wrote:4 YEARS AGO???
this is the anniversary thread, man! where's the updates?due to the fact that i am a stay-at-home dad taking care of both a 3 yr old and a 7 month old, well...RefD wrote:i am currently rearranging and recabling a major part of my music room and will post pics when it's all done, but this could take a bit...maybe next weekend?
right now it's not the biggest mess it's ever been, but it's close.
i pretty much have no time on weekdays for anything except being dad and maintaining my hygiene and nutrition.
so that leaves the weekends!
Still in that chair 12 years later. I have a bar mitzvah coming up. My eldest. They said he wouldn't live that long and that he would be retarded, well, he's alive and retarded, but, he comes by that naturally. They said my twins wouldn't mak it either, 3 kids later,,,,
I'll post some pics later.
Harumph!
totally worth it, as i'm sure you well know.Brian wrote:I now have ULTIMATE respect for you, sir!

Either a Synsonics drums ($2.50 at Savers) or the guts of a DD-50 hanging out the front of an unfinished 1U rackmount enclos--- wait a second...otto-bot wrote:What synth is that in the right hand corner?
How do you know there are synths on top of the bookshelf in the right hand corner? They aren't even in the picture!
Ain't I a stinka?
OK enough funny business, it's a Synare 01, and it is in the process of losing all of it's vintage value in the name of usefulness. There is a thread somewhere about all of that.

Okey dokes - here's a few quick snapshots I just took of my humble mastering room -
B&W Nautilus 802 monitors, Pass Labs X250 power amp, GIK bass traps,
hardwood floors in desperate need of a sanding,
cable runs in desperate need of being neatened, and of course an Aeron chair
The main rack:
Lavry Blue DAC's,
Sontec MEP250EX 5 band parametric eq
(featuring one of the sweetest high shelfs known to man),
custom modded Amek Medici (Rupert Neve designed) mastering eq,
API 5500 eq, API 2500 stereo comp,
Pendulum OCL-2 stereo tube optical comp,
Logitek BV6 6 channel PPM/VU meters,
Lucid DA9624 DAC (been meaning to upgrade this to a Lavry Black but haven't gotten to it yet),
Mytek Stereo96 ADC,
Coleman Audio M3PHmkII monitor controller.
The side rack:
ADR Propak Audiomate M/S matrix,
recently acquired Empirical Labs ELDS "Derr-Essers"
high frequency limiters / de-essers in an Avedis 2 module rack,
custom modded SPL SX2 - the original version of the "Vitalizer,"
newly acquired Focusrite Blue 330 mastering compressor
(a Mark 1 with transformer balanced i/o),
and a pair of Grace Design Model 101 mic pres
for tracking my own projects when I have a little downtime from mastering.
The DAW desk:
dual LCD's displaying SAWStudio, CM Motor Mix controller,
CD/DAT/Minidisc player remotes, and of course pen and notebook.
The Sony/MCI JH110M preview/program 1/4" & 1/2" 2 track deck:
The view from the chair (the painting of the guitar is by my grandfather, Maurice Berson, and features real strings and bridge that he glued to the canvas) -
Best regards,
Steve Berson

OK, not my desk, but I have worked on this desk, so does that count? Really I just thought you guys would love to drool over this stuff. Jebus, I forgot how ostentatious Jay's set up was.
