The ARP Odyssey is making me happy in a special way.

i actually have a book published by ARP detailing the use of that synth as well as the principles of subtractive synthesis and some patch sheets and so on.b3groover wrote:The ARP Odyssey is making me happy in a special way.

Sweet.
The guy I bought my Moog Voyager from in Detroit had a minty ARP Odyssey as well as an ARP 2600 (also mint). He also had a whole living room full of other analog synth goodness.
Yeah, he let me play them, too.

a couple of years ago i took my Ross Phaser Distortion to the local tech cos the germanium diodes in the clipper had taken a dirt nap (what he eventually determined) and what should i behold on his bench?
a partially disassembled ARP 2600 with its guts exposed undergoing a complete overhaul.
i nearly had to tie my jaw shut like Marley's ghost.

Thanks for noticing! I've still got some treatment to do in the room. There are plans for bass traps in the corners under the soffits, and a couple of tuned resonators in the works, just haven't gotten to them yet.Brian wrote:I just noticed that the ceiling isn't treated near the very nicely soffitted monitors.
I won't even mention the 2600 sans keyboard that I bought for $10 back around 1990; the only thing that was funky on it was one of the speakers, and that was just a dirty connector. I really won't mention that I don't have it anymore, though I did sell it for substantially more than I paid.
Oops, I guess mentioned it after all, didn't I?

Thanks! We think it's pretty nice, too!RefD wrote:purple ultratouch on the ceiling and walls with wood trim strips?
cos it looks pretty danged nice to me!
The fabric isn't really purple. It started it's life as blue, but did get a shade or two darker when it was dipped in a "no fires in the studio, please" solution.
what was that solution?seaneldon wrote:Thanks! We think it's pretty nice, too!RefD wrote:purple ultratouch on the ceiling and walls with wood trim strips?

since page 13 is depressingly lacking in pictures, i figured i'd chime in with my insanely ghetto, yet super sweet made of scrap wood desk madness in my totally rent/mortgage free space.
hope you like it and all of it's low budget glory!

Just a picture I took the other day, while I was rearranging the record library
You can read about that, and drool at a few of the rare bits of vinyl in the collection if you are curious...here: http://www.careerrecords.com/reports/Cl ... _Room.html
As you can see the studio and record library share the space. It either inspires the bands, or scares the shit out of them....
Jason Lytle has been in to work on a track for a proposed tour/tribute EP. We produced a couple of things last weekend, for our pals, Little Pieces, who will be on the other side of the disc. Their current release was done at Jackpot, if I'm not mistaken. Herman Jolly worked here when it was just the Fostex 1/4" 8-track and again a few years ago with Sunset Valley. It was the G16 by then... you can still see it in the back corner of the top photo.
Mix session tomorrow.
We got some good sounds, very quickly with just the gear I have. I used the Ghost's pre-amps for guitars and some of the drums. We were both pleased with the results. There are three racks of gear below the desk, just the usual sorts of things...
