Comic relief... sorry, though, there is always stuff everywhere.

Drums are currently being recording in the upstairs living room until I finish out the live room. I'm so glad I have an understanding wife.
Tell us more about that diy TG comp? It looks wicked!

We use the Manley DVC for vocals and acoustic instruments ::: otherwise direct to the 24 inputs of the ROland. We use a Masterlink, at the large studio, for a "instant" recording of the days session.

B3, I remember you racked up some QE pres. Are you tracking with them? Drums?

Yes, you can see them on the other side of the mixer (opposite of the Moog) on the bottom. I am not using them at the moment. I'm doing an experiment to see how good the preamps are in the Yamaha N12 / Steinberg MR816x. Some people have claimed that they are so good that they have cured their lust for preamps. We'll see after today.

Well, I gotta say... the preamps in the MR816x sound damn good. I'm listening to what we just tracked and have not even touched the EQ yet, just balancing levels and everything is gelling together beautifully. The drums sound just like they should; nice high-end sizzle, defined kick, powerful snare, the balance in the overheads is perfect,

The Leslie sounds really good, too. And the guitar sits right in the mix. The guitar player even remarked "That's how I want my guitar to sound every time I pick it up."

Folks, I think we have a winner.

I'll post a couple samples later, maybe in a new thread.

I loved hearing your organ samples in another thread, I'd definitely love to hear more samples of what you've recorded!

Wow, Trods, that's an awesome setup. I love the cassette players.

Is the R2R multitrack that Tascam you were talking about?

THANKS!
yeah.. the MS-16.. I'm still in the process of re-learning how to use it. Amazing how much memory, skills, etc I can forget/drink/smoke away after not using one regularly for over 9-10 years.
