so..anybody up on the new UAD-2?

Post by gabe real » Sat Aug 30, 2008 2:54 pm

just wondering, looks interesting.
i have seen alot of people selling there UAD-1's here and there.

i just got a extra card for $150.
and when i registered it on uaudio.com, i got a $150 coupon.
yup, it was a used card and i still got the coupon, so i got a card and percision EQ for $200!

the UAD-2 looks nice, but i think i may wait for a while.

It looks amazing. The scalability is incredible.
But, it's only PCI-e... So, I'd have to buy a new $2500 mac to use it.
I guess I'll be waiting.

I'll probably pick up a couple of used UAD-1 cards, though...

yup, i would have to build a new computer, sell my other cards, then buy the UAD-2.
i have 2 cards now, if i got the low end UAD-2 it would be 2.5 times the power of one UAD-1 . so im only down .5 of the UAD-2 with my 2 UAD-1's.

i have tried to find other plugins that i like as much, but no go as far as compressors go.

i wish massey would port the CT4 over to VST.

im just about over pro tools, i only have it to satisfy clients.

LE is annoying and im not gonna spend that much on HD.
sorry.

this is a good time to get into the UAD-1 stuff.
they are had for cheap right now......
great time for a second card.

the UAD-2 does look amazing though.

i'll be getting one very soon. It is a bummer, I really didn't think they would be out for a while now and went ahead and bought a second card 4 months ago, but that's ok. Ibasically got the card for free with all the voucher deals they had going on.

Can't wait!

I had no idea they were doing an upgrade to the hardware. I've never used the UAD-1, but always wanted to get one. I guess I'll save for the UAD-2 now.

Slightly related, does anyone know what happened to that company that was trying to use spare GPU power for plug-ins?

im surprised no one else stated a thread about the UAD-2.

Honestly two UAD-1's have been enough for me and I can always freeze or bounce waves, so it's not like I have to have more power now. But I use the SE version alot and the normal versions do sound better so being able to just put up the normal versions of the 1073 and 1176 would be nice. The other thing is I mix at 44.1, but I am sure as time goes by I will get more projects at 88.2 (or higher) and that is when the UAD-1's really start to choke. Finally the Space echo and 33609 are amazing but huge power hogs, as I am sure future plugs will be.

I am selling one UAD-1 for sure, and getting a quad. I will keep the other UAD-1 till they port over all of the plugs and then either keep it or sell it depending on the prices. It's actually really good that this came along cause I have really been toying with getting the waves SSL and API packs, but I just hate to get back intoWUP and all that.

Actually there were a bunch of companies. A friend of mine worked for one of them and said the project was dead, mostly because it turned out to be more of a hassle than it was worth and there were issues with latency.

Best,

Jrr Shop has a trade in program, which I am not doing cause i am sure I can get more than $100 for a used PCIe card. But they also have a forum discount to people on the UAD forums. You don't have to sign up or anything, just do a couple of searches for JRR Shop and UAD-2 he mentions it in there. I don't want to just give out the info you know.
