and if some truly evil people are released in the process?

well, they can stay at Yoko's house until they finish cleaning her out!

"simple-minded" is too soft a description for those lyrics.

Meanwhile, the new Paul McCartney release is very interesting.

it's a discussion about music quality - how could it be anything other than subjective and opinion based?

Agreed - its ALL subjective and a matter of taste.

My final thoughts - and they're just thoughts...

1. I agree with everyone on this post that the new album doesn't sound that good. I'm past it and am currently enjoying (the hell out of) the new songs. After all, it's about the music first.

2. I agree with 100% of everything that MoreSpaceEcho said. He nailed it as if he were speaking for me.

- Kill'em All: very raw and sounds like a polished-demo (great songs)

- Lightning: big & lush with reverb (great songs)

- Garage Days: My favorite production of anything they did. Am I Evil - still get chills listening to that one!

- Puppets: very technical-machine-like (my favorite songs)

- Justice: dry and dusty (great songs)

- Black-Album: huge-90s-commercial (great songs, great memories)

- Load: Getting Louder... (3 or so songs are cool, rest is crap)

- Re-load: The artists formerly known as Metallica!

- SNM: Still don't understand, but hey it's something different)

- St Anger: Hate the production (2 or 3 good songs, rest is boring)

- Death Magnetic: definitely squashed to shit. And for the songs, Welcome Back Metallica!

When it's a discussion... It's feel more like everyone is on a mission to "convince" the other that they're right.
then it's a debate.

That might not be a bad idea. They did a cover of Iron Maiden's 'Remember Tomorrow' that was released just before this latest fiasco, and its actually pretty good (IMO.) I had my hopes up for the new material, but alas...
