Echo Park on guitar?

Post by logancircle » Tue Dec 09, 2008 8:26 am

How do you use yours? Any tricks you've learned?

I think these things are really useful and versatile. Having a tap-tempo right in front of you is very handy on stage.

I put it as the last thing in my rig (set to "Ducking", important) before the amp, and use amp distortion (distorting the echo), so it feeds back sounding like two diesel cranes necking in a cave, sortof like the Verve guitar guitarist. Also works very well on distorty keyboards.

I've had one of them on my pedal board for 3 years now and I love it. I've also used it on bass and synth bass(EH micro bass synth). I like the way it works and the way it sounds in all modes but I mainly use the tape mode with a lot of modulation. Mine is the last thing on my pedal board before the amp and my overdrives(Fulltone FD II custom, and Maxon OD9) are both before it. Sounds wonderful with my silverface Twin(non-master volume) and my Roland Blues Cube.

What kind of modulation? I'm curious, because I just use mine for delay.

I was referring to the Mod control which in tape mode controls wow and flutter, analog mode it's delay modulation.

Echo Park on guitar?

Post by skolnick » Tue Dec 09, 2008 2:15 pm

I have found that any power supply besides the Line 6 brand is way too noisy. The Swell preset is my favorite, but the attack time is not as fast as the DL4.

I use the Line 6 P/S with mine and have never had any noise. It wasn't that expensive so I guess it's worth getting if you have an Echo park.

Dumb question:

Can you use this Line 6 power supply to power other pedals in your pedal rig, daisy-chained as you might with an iSpot or brick.

I don't know, but probably not. I have separate supplies for the Echo Park, a Dunlop 535Q, and use batteries for the Fulldrive and OD9.

You can not. I forget what is different about it, but it does not use the standard Boss/DOD power.

If I recall correctly, the polarity is reversed. I was building a pedalboard once and came across this. The PSU fried. :(

I used my iSpot power supply and daisy-chain last night with it and it was fine, BUT I don't want to keep using it if it's going to fry the pedal. Is there really a good chance of that?

i don't own an echo park but i'll chime in for the Pedal Power also. its definitly one of the best things that i've ever bought for my guitar rig.

i'll also say that i find it super useful to have the tap tempo available also. i use my Boss DD20 for this and it works nicely. sounds amazing when i pair it up with my deluxe memory man too

I really liked the sound of the Echo Park that I had for a while, it was very versatile, and really did the trick. However, after a while, I would notice that the delay time would just reset itself automatically, to whatever setting it felt like. I could use the tap to get it back where I wanted it, but after a minute or so, it would reset again. Frustrating. My friend's does the same thing, but those are the only two I have seen that do that.
Why not?
