Looking for Kepex Repair Recomendations

Post by A.David.MacKinnon » Sun Dec 28, 2008 9:37 pm

I just bought a rack of Allison Research Kepex gates (the original ones not Kepex II) and a couple of them have issues. One is dead and the other has a funky threshold pot.
Can anyone suggest a tech for these things? I'd love to be able to ship the card without the power supply/rack enclosure.

Thanks

Check with Jim Williams (Audo Upgrades). He posts here some and is currently located in San Diego County (California).

Slightly off topic but anyone used his services? I've been looking into them since I just bought a tac scorpion and they do service and mods to it.

i would do it, but if you are not willing to send everything that powers it up, it would be hard to test before I send it back to make sure that everything is working correctly. you may get charged for the services, but if they cant test it before it leaves the shop, then it's a gamble. just a thought.... good luck.

You might try Andy Barrett here - http://www.analogdomaininc.com/

His favorite compressor of all time is the original Gain Brain with mods to the sidechain that he designed. Nice guy and very helpful.

Thanks folks. These are some very promising leads.

Slightly off topic but does anyone know a good place to look for first generation Gain Brain cards? I got one in the rack with the Kepex gates and would love to get another one. Ebay is a dead end at the moment and google isn't turning up much either.
