Classical music out of copyright
Classical music out of copyright
I'm looking for some classical music to sample for a record I'm working on. Hoping to find stuff out of copyright so I don't have to worry about all that hassle. I've looked around and haven't been able to find anything besides a bunch of old records in my collection, but I don't have a turntable these days. Anyone know of anywhere on the Web I might look?

The composition itself may be out of copyright, but the performance probably isn't, so watch out.

http://www.musopen.com/music.php might be useful. I've never scoured around there but it looks like it's all pre-screened to be public domain recordings.

If you can deal with Creative Commons licensing instead, check out:

Might help. Really cool stuff that that guy's doing, but some of it is a little...racy for the modern audience.
