does anyone own a peluso mic?

Post by benjc » Sun Jan 04, 2009 5:52 am

I'm sure this has been discussed here in some way, but I can't find anything on it through the search except a thread with an article from NPR on peluso. Does anyone own one? or two? Are you a fan? I'm curious about them, even though I'm broke right now.

Damnit, I just saw a couple in someone's equipment list, and I can't remember whose.. I know that was completely pointless to say, but I guess I'm just letting you know there's hope..

I have 2 of them, a 2247SE and a P12 (won the P12 in a contest, how lucky is that?).
I really like them. Build quality is very good and they sound great.

The 2247SE had a burnt out light bulb on the PSU when I got it, emailed Peluso, had a new one to me in less than a week.

I would recomend them highly, great mic / great prices / great service.

I've not owned or used a Peluso mic, but the owner of a studio I work at a lot has a couple of C12 clones he's built himself using P12 capsules and they sound amazing.

Awesome, I think I need to start saving up for one, every review I've read is good. Thanks for the responses.

i have a 2247LE.

it is a nice mic, but if i had to do it over again, i think i would go Pearlman.

Dave was alot nicer on the phone than John was. YMMV.

I have a P12 and I love it, it's very smooth... I've recorded a whole kit with just the p12 and an sm57 (on snare) and it sounded great. My only complaint is it looks like a cheap Chinese mic. Thankfully though it doesn't sound like a cheap Chinese mic.

Dave is a hell of a nice guy.

I own a pair of TM-2s and love them. They use a Peluso made capsule. You might want to check them out. More affordable than the Peluso tube mics.

Sorry to hijack.

If any of you have questions or would like to discuss the Peluso product line, please feel free to give me a call. I was the first dealer John ever brought on and I've been working closely with him for many years now. Not only do we represent the Peluso line but I also own the mics and use them every single day in the studio.

You can get our phone number from the top portion of our website, and you can browse the entire line of Peluso microphones including sound clips and videos for some of them. The product page for Peluso is:

I own 2 2247LE s and love them. I have a friend that has 2 p12s and 2 r14s and borrowed them. They are great mics with a good build quality. I found them to be consistent from mic to mic. Mine are not close serial #s and sound very similar. Not perfectly the same but close enough to use as a stereo pair etc...

I have both a P12 and a R14...very nice sounding mics. The p12 is a very nice emulation of a C12 and worth the money. As for the R14...I like it but it is currently the only ribbon mic I own so I really haven't compared it to anything else, I've got a pair of AEA R84's with the DJ option that should be here any day...so then I can at least compare it to one of them.

i have a P12 and love it - very airy and present. a really nice contrast to my lawson L47 which is dark and richer but not open enough for some vocalists or things where you really want some sparkle.
