Mackie ONYX 1640 power supply

Post by Johnny B » Wed Jan 07, 2009 11:55 am

Thanks to some stubborn termites, we had to rip out the control room for our auditorium and rebuild it over the holidays. I pulled all of the equipment out and the maintenance guys did the room repairs. I started re-installing the equipment today and our Mackie ONYX 1640 mixer is no longer working. When powered up, the power light and the -20 input lights (or mute if mute is on) flash and there is a ticking noise. I pulled the back off and it sounds like the noise is coming from the power supply.

How can I test this thing without killing myself? I'd send it out, but the nearest service center is four hours away and by the time we shipped it twice and paid for the repair, we probably might as well have bought a new one.
