Hey guys, new to the forum. I'm coming over from Recording.Org for a specific question.
I have the chance of getting an Ampex AG-440. It's two track. I am wondering if anyone has experience with restoring these, and some general ideas of price.
Haven't gotten any chance to test yet, but I'm looking around to see if they would be worth working on.
Made in the USA and all that.

Need to subscribe to the Ampex list. Indispensible. I'm too lazy, google "recordist ampex list" and follow the link and the instructions.

I've had maybe 5 AG-440's over the years, but I've never restored one. That's because they always work. They're good sounding machines.
