Vox speaker cabinet question

Post by jakeao » Fri Jan 30, 2009 3:05 pm

I have an old vox speaker cabinet and the box is shot, but the speakers are ok. My question is what type of speakers are they. They have :

52-8B 67-7052

written on the back of them but no name anywhere. They are 12" speakers. Thanks for any help.

Given a pic, I can probably ID them, unless they are obscure non original speakers. A detailed description may suffice. Do you know what model cabinet it is, or at least whether it is US or UK and the # of speakers ?

They are definitely not original Vox speakers, I doubt they are worth much.

I talked to the guy I sold them to and he says they are Rola speakers. Vox used them in some of their cabinets. He said they are worth about $30-$50 a pair. I looked them up on Ebay and that's about right.

It looks like they have whizzer cones which would mean they were for vocal PA use, and not ideal for guitar, in fact they may not be able to handle the transients and lows. I'd say they are good candidates for replacement.

I used them on guitar and they sounded ok. A little lacking in the low end. I traded a pair of the speakers and $40 for the SoundMixer console I'm working on. I think it was prett good trade :D especially since the speakers are of no use to me at all. Now if only I could trade the rest of them for a power supply for the console. :)
