Original Rode Classic vs Classic 2

I have a Rode Classic mic that I sent out for repair. The power supply needs new parts, which unfortunately are no longer being manufactured. I was offered a new Classic 2 as a replacement. Does anyone have any comments on how these two mics differ in sound quality? On gearslutz someone mentioned that the Classic 2 is brighter with less low end boost, and can be grainy in the hi end. Any impressions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The classic sounds better than the classic II. I dont know why, but it is true.
keep the classic, thats my opinion.
I have used both a bunch, back before Rode wa available everywwhere and it felt like a cool , weird "boutique" brand... kind of like the oktava 012's that I love so much and really had a unique thing in 1999, but not anymore...
anyway, the classic sounds like a classic microphone.really. the classic II sounds like any old microphone being made today. like any of the condenser mics in the 1000-2000 range.

Shot in the dark- would the Hamptone tube mic power supply work?

I hardly use my Classic - it's way too bright for most sources. You guys have darker mics or is my mic getting old in a strange way?

My classic is bright too but then again, so is a C12.
I put a big U87 foam pop filter on mine. Knocks the top down a bit and retains the character of the mic all with no eq!
I also prefer the original over the II version.
On the right voice the Classic is REALLY good. The trick is knowing when to use it.
