Getting digital distribution
I know this is a bit off topic for Tape Op, but this is the one place I trust for info. I am looking for a distribution site to get my music onto iTunes and etc... I used to use CDBaby, but I don't plan on selling any physical CD's, so a lot of what they offer (and charge for) is extraneous to me. I tried tunecore, but for some reason I can't get my tracks to upload to them. (i watched the tutorials and everything. no matter what i tried it said I had an "i/o error). Any other suggestions?
Yes, I am one of THOSE people, up in the attic, trying to recreate the magical sounds of my youth (cheap trick, boston, pavement) on the family 8 track recorder.

What you are looking for is Tunecore. Pay a one time fee, and then you keep all the money from iTunes sales (After apple gets it's cut of course).

Sorry. I though it was funny. But seriously, did you try a different computer?

I'm waiting for them to get back to me. It seems like I should resolve the issue with them, rather than trying to find a different site. (My computer is still fairly recent, with no major issues anywhere else)

Oh that was silly. They just got back to me. The problem was that I had a capital letter in the file. Changed it to all lower case and it went through fine.
Thanks everybody.

I've used CD baby just for digital before, but it took them a LONG time to get the stuff up. I haven't had such positive experiences with the orchard either. I know this is a bit of a nay-sayers post but I'm certainly interested in tunecore, and I"ll let everyone know how it goes for me. I just released the new model barbers album on vinyl, and it's time to get some digital going.
