Most new stuff with converters is to make them cheaper, not better. There's never been a time like the present to buy good converters.

A2D is cost effective for 2 channels of 312

Post by chrisreedjr » Wed Dec 08, 2010 9:17 pm

If you go buy a lunch box and two 512 pres at regular retail, that comes out to the same cost as an A2D. So, I bought the A2D. If you don't end up liking the converter, then use the analog outs. At least you still have the ability to steal an extra two inputs on your 003. The converter works well for me and sounds good, but the best part is that I got to start using it right away instead of needing to buy another $1,000 worth of converter to get it through my S/PDIF input, which is what would have happened if I had gone the 500 route.

Things come three ways:

Good, Fast & Cheap.

You can only pick two at once.

1. pay off any debts you may have.

Buy 600 of these...

I have dozens and my cats delight in swatting, chasing, and pouncing on them when they invade studio space - invariably depositing in places to bruise or stab dully my soft feet. Imagine the glee possible with hundreds of them?

I'd be on the road to pick up a Stephens 16-track, and calling MRL on the cell phone to order a 2" cal tape.

Cheers,
