Hi all. Probably a stupid question, but I was wondering:
I've done some tube rolling in my ART Pro MPA and thinking about whether I need to replace the tube covers or not...? One of them wasn't staying in it's spot very well, popping up because of the spring. Got me thinking, do I even need them?
What say y'all --- ?
Thanks -

only place i was ever concerned about the metal covers was on preamp tubes in guitar amps.
but i'm hardly an expert.

for one, you need tube covers when the valves are in close proximity or even making mild contact with other components. there's probably other reasons though.

The cover shield the tube from noise, EMF ,etc and keeps the tube from vibrating in noisy environment.
Are you twisting the cover to the right to lock it after you push it down?

Yes, I was twisting it correctly. I think it's just lost some of it's "grip". Those are all sound reasons for having the cover on, I will investigate making it grip better and put them back on. Thanks everyone...

Yes, you need them. Would a cheap ass company like ART spend the money on covers and the manual labor it takes to put them on if they were extranious?
