URGENT HELP - audio restoration

Post by nycthinker » Tue Apr 07, 2009 9:35 am

I have a new client, wants audio cassettes restored (speeches). They are asking for cleaning of each audio cassette using a HEPA vacuum and pelon tyvek treatment. Anyone know what this means?....and what gear is needed to clean the cassettes?

Any ideas/help would be appreciated. I have to get back to them today!
Thank you.

why wouldn't he want them archived to digital and remove the noise and just vacuum the old cassettes and store them in plastic bags with silica gel packets? then the files won't degrade if burned to a dvd.

I would tell them to go back to the place that told them about the treatment and pay their price. it is probably a fair price and the new client is searching for someone to do it free.....In my experience.

no offense... but, it sounds like it means that they want a service that you don't provide (or understand). better to pass on the project than to ruin their tapes.
