Where do I get silica gel packs for window locally in NYC?

Post by Flight Feathers » Fri Apr 17, 2009 8:12 am

I'm in the process of building a control room window, been hearing it is a good idea to throw some silica gel packets in there to prevent fogging. does anyone know where i can get some locally in NYC? it seems a little silly to order them online since the cost like 25 cents. but i will if i have to i guess.

btw, i am (trying) to post updates on the buildout: http://www.5dstudios.com/studio/

thanks

Fresh Step crystal cat litter is actually silica gel. A 4 pound bag runs about $8. Just bag it up and toss it in.

Never had a fogging problem with field-installed double glazing, never used silica. As long as there's no significant temperature differential you shouldn't have fogging. It is a good idea to make one side openable so you can clean between the panes every few years..

or some free options. try on some new shoes. most shoe boxes have a few silica gel bags or other moisture absorbing product in them.
disclosure - i manage a shoe store.
